Cold sensitivity

Hello,  I am a 48 year old in good health and have noticed a sensitivity to cold in my lower central and lateral incisors.  It started during a cleaning 6 months ago.  The hygenist scrapped really hard between the teeth and the teeth started to hurt with anything cold ever since.  It was noticeable how hard she was scrapping and actually hurt while she was doing this.   I have no cavities or fillings in any of the teeth.  I brush and floss daily and have not had any cavities in years.  The few fillings I have are on molars and not any where there is sensitivity.  I also never had sensitivity in any of my teeth until after this cleaning.  So, I wonder if she was too aggressive and did something to make this happen?  Is is permanent?    Your thoughts are appreciated?

Have you tried using a sensitivity toothpaste at all?  I would suggest trying that and seeing if that'll help.  It may take a few weeks for it to work though.  If not, I would suggest going back to your dentist and getting treatment for it.  There are various procedures your dentist can try such as a fluoride treatment, desensitizing agent, etc.
