white spot under tongue

by rdhintraining, Mar 02, 2008 12:13AM
Lately I have been having some slight pain in my throat and tongue.  I was not alarmed by it because I do frequently get colds, and sore throats this time of year.  I went to the dentist and he noticed a white spot under my tongue that pretty much went across the whole width of my tongue.  He told me to come back in a month, and if neccessary, he would send me to an oral surgeon.  What could this be?  I am a basically healthy 38 year old woman.

There are a number of white lesions that are benign, any of which maybe what is on your tongue. I would not worry but it is important that the dentist follow its progress.
