Bright yellow spots on skin

My daughter woke up this morning with sveral very bright yellow spots on her arms. They looked like yellow accent marks from a yellow marker but they were not.

No diseases that I know of produce the kind of yellow spots you describe.  Peculiar pigmentation usually reflects exposure to external dyes of some kind.  You were on the right track to think of magic marker.  If that doesn't work, perhaps further thought may reveal the source of the color.  If nothing obvious comes to mind, or if the spots proliferate or change, you ought to take your daughter to her doctor.
