Bump with a dark center on penis shaft that would not go away

Bump with a dark center on penis shaft that would not go away

Several month ago I noticed a bump growth on my penis shaft. It looked like a pimple was growing out and I thought to leave it alone. After about a week or so it seemed to have burst and started to swell down (from the centre). Since, it has reduced in size somewhat but it would not go away (it doesn't hurt or itch). It is round, raised up, lighter in color (whiter) edge, with a dark crater in the center (looking somewhat like a sweat pore). (not sure if the pic is clear enough).

I live in China and as a foreigner have a communication problem with the local doctors, also I have a certain mistrust when it comes to their care (it is anecdotal but when I did my medical last year in one of the best hospitals (university hospital) in town and asked to be checked for STDs the doctor plainly refused to do any tests and told me there are no STDs in China so I don't have to do it). I am not going to leave the country soon and would not be able to go for a check up.

As the cratered bump has not gone away for quite some time I am getting worried and am wondering if there is anything I should (or can home remedy) do and if there is an over the counter medicine that I can/should use.
(It is close to impossible to find medicine that has use/content/etc in english, there are local versions of many of the western medicines here but all written in Chinese that I cant read - the easiest way to buy is if I know what is inside and ask at the pharmacy by their latin ingredients hopefully they know) (pic - http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Dermatology/Bump-with-a-dark-center-on-penis-shaft-that-would-not-go-away/show/1414369)

Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum!

I was not able to see much from the picture you posted as it was quite blurred, but based on your description  -  several months present, solitary, penile papule that developed into painless, round erosion/ulcer with raised border could be clinical manifestation of a sexually transmitted disease such as Syphilis (high incidence in China in recent years), Chancroid, Donovanosis, even Lymhogranuloma venerum. Other possible, non-STD causes are numerous, including infections, autoimmune diseases, and malignancy.  They all require doctor’s attention.

Therefore, the best strategy would be to see a dermatologist (if possible). Proposing a non-specific home remedy in this situation would not be of much help.
