Hard, white bump in anus

Hard, white bump in anus

Hi -- For a few weeks now, I've hard a hard, white bump just above my anal opening. Texture wise, it feels pretty smooth.  It doesn't hurt at all -- in fact, it's not sensitive to the touch at all, almost like whatever it is doesn't have nerve endings or something.  I recently tried picking at it a little to see if it would scrape off -- after a bit of effort, part of it did, but I can now see there's either another one, or some leftover from the original.

I'm a straight male who's never had anal sex. Is it possible that this is anal warts? Also, if I need to see a doctor, would a proctologist or dermatologist be a better option?

Finally, I should note that I'm a little neurotic about anal hygiene, so I wipe thoroughly and wash wish soap and water in the shower, so it's possible skin irritation is involved.

Thanks.

Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum!

Solitary perianal possibly hyperkeratotic lesion without any subjective symptoms (no pruritus, pain, etc.) could be related to several diseases including infection, eczema (Atopic dermatitis, Contact dermatitis, etc.), Psoriasis, Warts, etc.

You are absolutely right. You should be seeing a dermatologist. In such a case it is important to evaluate lesion clinically plus make sure that proper medical history and other diagnostic results are obtained to investigate presence of any systemic disease.

Finally, frequent rubbing of perianal region and use of cleansing chemicals can cause skin changes, and should be investigated by your physician as a possible cause.
