Unsure about growth/bump

Unsure about growth/bump

Hi

A few months ago i noticed a smallish growth on my penis below the head.  The bump wasn't a regular circular bump and appeared as two small bumps however did not give a cauliflower like appearance.  I was initially worried about genital warts and saw a doctor who said it was not typical of warts but referred me to a dermatologist who of the opinion it was a non viral skin growth and to put my mind at ease saw a sexual health expert who said it did not appear to be typical of genital warts as it was barely raised above the surface and did not have a definite edge on it.

Since then I have twice had sex which has caused significant friction and to honest rubbed my penis to a point where it is painful the growth has within a day or two turned a bit whitish in colour and then appeared to go away.  The first time it sort of formed a bit of a whitish hard surface and when i wiped it away, it was smaller than orignally.  I feel it reappeared shortly (within days) and i thought i had imagined it was smaller.  The second most recent time it went whitish in appearance and even though i checked quite regularly appeared to have disappeared almost completely leaving behind a bit of a shiny redish patch where the bump had been.  Today which is nearly two weeks later i checked again and if i really strain my eyes could tell the area was red and i can see the faint outline of the bumps but when i run my finger over them i can't feel anything and when i spread the skin flat they are not really visible at all.

Also I am uncircumcised so when the area was damp in anyway for any period of time occassionally the bump would appear whitish until i dried the area.

I was wondering if you could tell me if this is typical of anything because I have not seen any of the doctors since and explained the going away thing and was wondering if it provided any insight into what the growth maybe and if it will come back to the original size again, and if so how i should get rid of it for good.

Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum!

It is not easy to assume exact clinical presentation of discrete, penile skin changes you mentioned, but based on information you provided, those lesions could have been result of mild irritation (mild redness, discrete maculo-papules and/or maculo-vesicles, transient dryness, resolution of lesions without therapy within several days, etc.).

Most common forms of irritation are physical/mechanical (friction, rubbing, etc.) and chemical (contact with different chemicals; prolonged contact with body fluids like urine, sweat, etc.).

In case changes appear again, please let us know, as well as your physician. It is always helpful to see lesions unaffected by time and environmental exposure.
