unusual lip zits = herpes?

unusual lip zits = herpes?

A while back I went home with a girl I met in a bar.

After that evening I became acutely aware of any zit activity near my lips, and I am suspicious that I may have herpes.

Sometimes the zits appear directly on my lip, other times around my lips.  It is almost always a single zit so it doesn't meet the "cluster" critera, but it still seems unusual to me.

here are two pictures:

1. zit on my upper lip (taken 3-4 weeks ago)

after this picture, it went away over the next couple days

2. zit near my lower lip (taken today)

thanks!

These look like pustules,, which are bacterial rather than viral.  I doubt they are actually infected, though, and I see no connection with the girl you were with.  I suggest applying bacitracin or neosporin ointment daily until the spots go away.  If they persist, a doctor can perform a culture and treat as needed.

Best.
