Problems due to bulimia?

Hi there! I'm 23 years old and have been struggling with bulimia for some 10-11 years. As the years go on, I become more and more concerned with the damage I'm doing and have done to my body. I have tried several times to recover and I just never seem to fully get past it. Lately I've been having issues that I'm afraid are directly linked to purging. I've had chest pains that were determined to not be linked to my heart according to my doctor. It's almost a burning pressure type feeling towards the middle and lower part of my chest. He decided it was acid reflux and put me on nexium which never seemed to help. It's also difficult for me to burp and if I drink something carbonated the pressure in my chest almost starts to hurt. It scares me on occasion because it feels like its making my heart palpitate if I can't get a burp out.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this possibly be caused by a hernia or other problem with my esophagus?

Hi!
Yes, apart from hiatal hernia and severe acid reflux, the pain can be due to excessive purging. A positive frame of mind is very important for treatment. Take up yoga for that will help you. Join any good center in your area. Apart from this, you need proper diagnosis and treatment without which success is not possible. The treatment involves various types of behavior therapies, nutritional guidance, medications to control hunger, food satiety, and exercise and yoga. Please consult a good psychologist/psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders. Take care!
