Acuvail vs generic

Acuvail vs generic

My ophthalmologist prescribed Acuvail after my cataract surgery, but it's not covered by my insurance.  The doctor made a point of providing a decent supply of samples, leaving me with the impression that it's somehow preferable to the generic ketorolac.

I don't know yet whether I'll need to pay to get more, but I'm curious if there's a real difference.  The main differences that I can discern are the packaging (individual doses versus a 5ml bottle) and the preservative.  (I've never had a reaction to preservatives in eyedrops or contact lens solutions.)  Do these really matter?  Is there anything else that distinguishes Acuvail from similar generics?

For most people especially after surgery generic ketorlac is fine.
