Collamer IOL for mini monovision

Collamer IOL for mini monovision

I just had cataract surgery and am very disappointed. I spent months researching and decided to go for mini-monovision with the nanoFlex collamer iol. The nanoFlex is promoted by it's maker a excellent for blended vision, providing more vision than expected.  My left eye is 20/20 uncorrected. My right eye needed cataract surgery d/t a vitrectomy a year ago (b/c of a large floater).  Since I always read with my right eye and drive with  my left, I thought mini-monovision would work for me. However, as I was waiting to go into surgery, my doctor told me he couldn't use the nanoflex lens as it is a one piece, and my eye was too large and needed a three piece. He put in a 3 piece aspheric silicone iol.  I can see great at computer length and most reading. But after arms length, it bothers me. I can't see my clients clearly as they sit across from me at a table (which was my MAIN objective to do without glasses). The TV is blurry and the grocery store was awful. It is obvious that my right eye likes to do more than just read. My doctor said he can exchange the lens and will try a contact lens to pinpoint a vision I will be happy with.  I also have glare with this lens even in the daytime which surprised me.I noticed that STAAR also makes a collamer 3 piece lens - would this be a better choice than silicone? Thank you!!

I do not have much experience with the STAAR lenses, but my associate works with both and he says that for the three piece lens, there is no notable difference.  For one-piece lenses, the STAAR lens does have some advantages with providing accomodation at near vision in addition to distance vision, based on his postoperative results.
