Drusum?

  After visiting the optitions recently I found that I had
  a lump (about the size of a pea) on my right optic nerve.
  I have seen 4 doctors now and they have all said that it is a
  DRUSUM? (Sounds like).  I have been told that it is a very unusual
  condition and I have been asked to attend a meeting with 5 senior
  eye consultants at a hospital.  
  I have no serious side effects, but after having a field test it
  was found that I have a large black spot in the top left hand corner
  of my eye.  Using a clock as a basis, between 9.00 - 12.00 from
  my point of view.
  I have been told that it is not a tumor, but that's all.  Can
  anyone give me some more details as to what I really have from what I have said
  above ???.
  I would also like to add that I am a programmer who uses vdu's
  up to 10 hours a day.  I been doing this for 7 years now and I am 24 years old.
  I have also been using computers since that age of 10.

From your description, it seems like you have OPTIC NERVE HEAD DRUSEN.  Drusen are calcium deposits in the optic nerve.  You can be born with this or it may appear later in life.  Sometimes, it can be inherited.
Generally, optic nerve head drusen is of no great significance.  It can cause visual field defects in some people.  It is debatable whether this type of visual field defect can progress.  It is important to get an accurate diagnosis because this alters the appearance of the optic nerve and can be confused with other things such as swollen optic disks or optic nerve head tumors.
This type of drusen should not be confused with drusen of the retina which can occur in people with macular degeneration.  These are totally different things which have the same name and can easily be differentiated when the eye is examined.
Without examining you, it is impossible to say for sure what you have since I cannot see your optic nerve.
Optic nerve head drusen is not related to computer use.
