Duane Syndrome

I have been dx of duane syndrome, almost legally blind w/out my glasses. i saw opthamaligist he would not recommend glasses as they would not help me, but said must have clear lens exchange, but having hard time. According to websites, surgery is only for cosmetic. But mine is for medical necessity. Does Duane syndrome cause blindness or contribute to it or is it caused by something else. Also, have chronic headaches with neck discomfort. What are the tests done to check for Wildervanck Syndrome and is there treatment?

I do not think that a gene is known for Wildervank syndrome but is rather a diagnosis made by finding a series of physical findings.  I am definitely not an expert but I believe that genetic counseling is in order here if this partcular syndrome is being considered.  Treatment would only be aimed at the different abnromalities like hearing loss, back and neck issues and strabismus.  I really have no idea whatsoever what clear lens extraction surgery has to do with any of this other than you were looking for surgical ways to see better but lens implantation surgery would likely only be able to provide what your glasses provide at best.  Personally I think you need to concentrate on the more serious issues and get your mind off the clear lens extraction until you know a bit more what is going on.  See a pediatric ophthalmologist at a major university teaching hospital for help with your questions.
