Duanes Syndrome

Duanes Syndrome

My 10 year old daughter has Duanes syndrome.  Just had her eyes re-tested at the opticians and her vision is perfect and does not need glasses.  She has recently started experiencing blurred/double vision in a morning which lasts for 3/4 hours.  When reading she describes seeing 'two of each word and it's blurry'!  Any ideas/advice?

You daughter needs to be checked by a pediatric ophthalmologist-Eye MD. Double vision is part of Duane's syndrome. Most Duane's patients learn to compensate by moving their heads instead of their eyes. If the double vision creeps into straight ahead then eye muscle surgery is sometimes done. Eye muscle surgery however will not make the eye move normally.
