Purple Spots

by hoosier19, Aug 25, 2009 03:16PM
Roughly four weeks ago, I noticed floaters that I had never seen before. I got them checked by an optometrist and she said all was well with my eye. Now I am seeing what looks like little showers of black spots and little specks of light. Then, starting a little less than a week ago, I noticed that afterimages were being generated more easily than before. After that, I noticed that whenever I look at a light at night I see purple spots along with the afterimage. I also noticed a purple spot in my peripheral vision the other day. What could this all possibly be caused by? Should I see an ophthalmologist or a neurologist? This is causing me so much anxiety I'm having a hard time functioning.
