Retinal tear / Viagra

by Jery, Feb 11, 1999 12:00AM

Approximately 10 years ago I flashes
appearing in one eye, along with floaters.
I was told I had a retinal tear and to get
immediate attention if I noticed any vision
problems.   Approximately 3 years ago I
noticed flashes in the other eye.  Other than
that, I do not have any other eye problems
  that I am aware of.
I was given a prescription for viagra, but am
  concerned about any vision
  side-effects,especially with the retinal
  tear. Should I be concerned?

To my knowledge, there is no association between Viagra and worsening of retinal tears.  There has been some association of Viagra and blurred vision.  You should have your retina checked on a regular basis given your history.

Good Luck.
