Surgery for reopened macular hole

My macular hole is reopened and is it best to have the surgery fairly soon? Although, this may not be an option as we have to wait for an appointment for the surgery from a retina surgeon who lives 6 hours away. Will the hole get worse the longer I wait and may I end up with further vision loss?  I had to wait 4 months for an appointment for the first surgery and I am fearful valuable time maybe wasted.

Dear jan17,

I would recommend that you call your retinal surgeon and ask him/her this question.  I would not wait months to have surgery and would recommend that you travel, to him/her.
