cyst behind eye

My 83 year old mother had a cataract removed 8 weeks ago the procedure went well, she was given drops for 2 weeks, her eye did not seem to get better vision wise, when she returned to the hospital the eye test proved that there was no improvement, the consultant thought she may of been allergic to the drops so she changed them 2 weeks later there was no improvement the cosultant found a ulcer or maybe a cold sore behind the eye and gave her antibiotic drops, 2 weeks later still no better this time the consultant said everything looked clear behind the eye and could not understand why it was not getting better, she did a scan and found a water filled cyst behind the eye and has given her cosopt for 2 weeks. She has had them for 3 days no improvement so far, I cannot find any information on this on the net can you help.

I'm sorry but your descriptions of things are very vague and very confusing.  Cold sores  or herpes simplex lesions are usually on the cornea or front of the eye and treated with anti-viral medications.  A cyst could possibly mean macular edema or cystic changes in the macula and could be treated with anti-inflammatory drops.  Cosopt is a drop to treat hight pressure or glaucoma.  So I'm not sure how all these things fit together other than she seems to be having some type of problems but I'm very unclear what is going on from your description.  Make sure she is seeing a board-certified ophthalmologist who can carefully explain to her and you exactly what is going on and what is being done to improve things.  Have them put it in writing also.
