eyelid

My eyelid is red and a little puffy.  It itches sometimes but not alot. What is causing it and what kind of treatment would you suggest?

It could be some type of stye or chalazion which would cause a tender, red lump near the eyelid margin.  This would be treated with warm compresses, prescription drops,  and sometimes steroid injection or excision if quite large.  It could also be some type of allergic dermatitis with itchy, red, scaly skin.  Finally a skin infection of some sort could be present. As you can see, it is impossible for me to know what you have so I would suggest you see an ophthalmolgist in person.
