i had my vision checked

i went to the eye doctor he checked my eyes good for 40 minutes and said i have astigmatism but the glasses are not working and im going to a specialist next week and im worried if it was macular degeneration would he have seen that looking at my eyes really well for 40 minutes im 18 male by the way

Not likely to be macular degeneration at your age.  Wait for the specialist's opinion without worrying about it.  There are too many possibilities to list here but in most cases it ends up being not a big deal.  At your age, cornea problems including keratoconus are a possibility.  An ophthalmologist should be able to figure it out for you with a good exam.
