I've been experiencing chronic upper abdominal pain after eating, and occasional nausea and vomiting for over a month. I'm seeing a GI & he's performed an ultrasound (inconclusively) and has me scheduled for an endoscopy next week.
It was reccomended by a medical professional family
member that I should get a gallbladder ejection fraction test performed to see if my gallbaldder is functioning normally. I looked-up some information on ejection fraction tests and Acalculous Biliary
Pain and this sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing.
I am a young woman in my mid-20's with recurring pain in my upper abdomen after some meals. I have regulated my diet and there is no discernable consistency in the types of meals that cause the pain. I am also experiencing nausea and vomiting with increasing frequency lately.
The vomiting has most often been in the afternoon after I've eaten lunch & taken my daily vitamins. I know that if I have a bile ejection problem that fat & fat solubile vitamins can be hard to digest so I have stopped taking my vitamins and try to adhere to a low-fat diet.
The regularity of illness & discomfort has affected my daily life, eating and sleep habits, as well as my mood.
In 2004 I was experiencing the same problems, saw a different GI (where I was in school
ulcers. I was treated for those ulcers with protonix and discontinued the use of Protonix after the pain stopped. I have had very infrequent pain until about three months ago when the pain after meals started recurring regularly. My current GI does not think I have ulcers because the pain is occuring only after meals.
I'm wondering if this diagnosis sounds correct, or if anyone has any help or suggestions for these symptoms?
Thank you.
