Adhesions

by Sue30, Aug 18, 2008 08:56PM
When is it enough for a surgeon to cut the adhesions away?  I vomit every day and only have a bowel movement every 4/5 days which is a small thin sliver.  How do you get someone to listen to you that you need HELP?

I spent 4 1/2 days in the hospital to unplug me since I had not moved my bowels in 16 days.  They cleaned me out and sent me home.  Now I just wait to have another test to see if there truly is a blockage (although all x-rays show the blockage) before someone will even LISTEN to me.  I am frustrated.  Back in 2003 I had my gallbladder removed and was told that it took the surgeon longer to remove the adhesions then it did the gallbladder.  Well they are back in 2008 and it's horrible.

Adhesions are absolutely awful and is there a medication that will work if you do get them removed?

I can relate to your frustation i have suffered for many years myself with the same as yourself.I had a defecating xray, barium xrays, colonoscopy, endoscopy, physical therapist that deals with probs with defecating by placing balloon in rectum to measure pressure, biofeed, exercises for strengthing pelvic floor, nerve conduction test on rectum and lots of internals  all very embarassing tests in the past 2yrs.I recently only had a lap and it was discovered i had adhesions as far up as my ribs from previous surgeries yrs earlier and both my ovaries were anchored to my bowel with adhesions.I have a bowel, bladder and vaginal prolapse.I have to see a gynae before gastro dr will fix bowel prob i was also diagnosed with helicobacter through an endoscopy which can occur when stomach is empting too slow.

All the best
