Awaken from sharp chest and adominal(abdominal) pain

by Kbritt, Apr 17, 2009 10:42AM
Roughly 5 months ago, I began experience severe chest and stomach pains in the middle of the night. The pain wakes me up usually in the early morning, anywhere from 12 am- 5am. It doesn't occur every night. It seems to be completely random. It might happen 4 nights in one week and then not happen for another 3 weeks. Currently, I have not expereinced the pain for roughly 3 weeks.

When the pain occurs, it jumps around from my chest to my stomach. I may feel the pain in both my chest and my stomach simultaneously. The pain in my chest is very sharp and heavy. (The first time it happened, I felt like I was having a Heart attack). The stomach pain is even worse. It feels as though someone is ripping me open from the inside out. It usually lasts anywhere from 15 mins - 1hour; but has also lasted 2 hours.

I have had all forms of testing for my heart, lungs, etc. All came back fine. I have also had a gall bladder scan, which was normal. I am scheduled to have an EDG done in a week. After visiting the ER, the first time, I was perscribed heartburn/reflux medication. I was instructed to take them before bed. Not two nights later, I awoke with the same pains. My second visit to the ER, nothing was done; no tests or anything.

After doing a little research of my own, I thought that I should note that I frequently have watery-like bowl movements. And just today, I had bright red blood in my stool. I first noticed it on the toliet paper and after observation, noticed it in/on the stool.

I am generally healthy. I workout six days a week and eat healthy balanced meals. I never eat greasy or fried foods. Also, I never eat past 7 pm. I do not smoke or drink.

Any ideas, suggestions, etc would be greatly appreicated.
