Colonoscopy without drugs

by n85082, Jul 04, 2009 09:35PM
I'm lucky enough to have a sketchy family history of FAP or FAB(?) some genetic poly-forming tendency that hs been fairly lethal to my family.  I would like to get a colonoscopy without sedation; I had one terrible experience with it and won't do it again. I know that colonoscopy can be and is done without sedation but can't seem to convince anyone to schedule it that way. Reading askapatient.com about Versed scares me with the memory problems; there are too many legitimate complaints about that drug; anyway I don't want to do any sedation and I'm willing to tolerate the pain.  Tje one endo center promised no sedation until 5 min. before the exam then changed their mind so no test; now they tell me that this FAP is a big deal.....Any suggestions? thanks
