H Pylori

I tested positive for H pylori about three weeks ago.  I was put on two antibiotics and given omperazole a proton pump inhibitor.  I finished the treatment and the next day started to have pain in my chest, from the breast bone to the right side of my chest.  I also have a tight pain between my shoulder blades.  Is this because I am no longer taking the acid reducing medication.  Should I have an endoscopy and chest x-ray to rule out any other problems?

Thanks in advance

hi, your gp should prescribe omperazole for six months, this is sufficient time for your stomach linning to heal from the damage that h-pylori infection has done. As for the chest pain, it is a typical symptom of gerd, but to be on the safe side you should undergo an ekg stress test to rule out cardivascular disease. i would also recommend you have the upper endoscopy procedure done to verify that the infection has gone, this test will also show any damage done to your oesaphagus or stomach linning, most people with h-pylori infection tend to have a few small ulcers, but the proton pump inhibitor medication will cure them very quickly.
