Laproscopic gallbladder surgery

I have just been diagnosed with gallstones and go see the surgeon next week. My concern is that in 2006 I had hernia surgery and mesh was inserted. It is my understanding that they go in laproscopically in the bellybutton area and this is where I have the mesh.
Is it possible to still perform this procedure or would the surgeon more likely have to do it the old-fashioned way?
Can the mesh be cut are repaired?
