Sizing a grossly tortuous colon.

After suffering for many years with gas, bloating and pain, I was told I had a grossly tortuous colon.  After research to see what could be done, and I've done it all, is there any way to shorten the colon to make it a normal size.  I'm tired of this interfering with my life and activities.  In 1981 I kept thinking I was constipated but then I was rushed to the hospital and all the pain I was experiencing was due to female problems which I had emergency surgery for a hysterectomy.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  Usually removing part of the colon/the whole colon is only done in your situation when the person has severe chronic constipation.  There was another person very similar to you who was asking this question a month or so ago.  Have you tried anything to help your problem like medications or dietary changes?
