I have this long term health issue I have been dealing with for about 13 years already. Doctors I've seen have been unable to diagnose my issue and frankly in my eyes have given up because they don't know or don't want to refer me anywhere and in the mean time I am suffering. So I making this post so hopefully I can print it out and give my doctor some direction where to precede next.
Contributing factors that cause pain:
1. Eating Wheat - Blood test was done for Celiacs twice and came back negative (Effects listed below)
2. Eating Carrots - Makes me feel as if i swallowed a hand
and to be honest I feel as I am going to die. Once I do move around for awhile it feels as if I get an adrenaline rush once the blood starts circulating again. This usually lasts for about from 30 minutes to 4 hours depended if I am awake or asleep when this happens, which it is worst when it happens, following I will feel very weak and incoherent for days after.
2. Numbness in my body and random sharp pains - Usually brought about when I eat wheat, my entire right or left arm will go numb and I will have sharp needling type pain at my finger tips. Also I will get random sharp pains what feels like in my blood vessels or muscles.
3. Burning sensation in my mouth and throat - This usually occurs more often when I consume wheat or caffeine, my entire mouth including teeth will give off a very painful burning sensation that will travel down my throat and what feels to the front of my chest. The only thing that seems to somewhat soothe it is lots and lots of water. I would rate this pain a 9 out of 10 it usually persists anywhere from 30 minutes to four hours.
4. Bleeding out of the rectal area - Blood and yellowish mucus color stuff in that area, again usually more often when I eat wheat.
5. Stiff and Painful joints - I will usually wake up every 10 minutes from sleep just to shift positions because the pain wakes me up in the middle of the night. If I don't then I injure that area, which I have intense pain for about a month as if I tore something. Again this occurs more often when I eat wheat
Things I consider to be minor:
1. Mucus the consistency of rubber cement
2. Constant cough
3. Constant swollen throat, sometimes a major problem
4. Very dry eyes and itching in ears
5. Finger tips wrinkle up usually when I am having circulation problems
6. I hardly belch
7. Heavy sulfur build up on tongue - I only know this because my tongue turns completely black when I take Pepto Bismol.
So tests I had done:
1. Celicac blood test: Came back negative
2. Endoscopy: Small ulcer in the duodenum
3. Barium Swallow: Some minor reflux
4. Tested for H pylori - Negative
Attempts to resolve:
1. Every type of anti acid. Also proton pump inhibitors which actually seems to make me produce and absurd amount of acid, making things worst, which is odd because it should do the opposite.
2. Allergy medicines
3. Sleeping at an angle so I don't reflux
4. Changing my diet to more fruits and vegetables
5. Not eating 4 hours before I go to bed
6. Not eating wheat - This is the only thing that helps but I still suffer from the above mentioned
My question is could this be Whipple's disease or something else? Any doctor I've seen tries to make me think its in my head when I damn well know its not. Ive gone from 117lbs and active to 220lbs and lethargic because of the pain i get. Not to mention from being on the deans list of college to being unemployed all because of this stupid illness. I can't hold down a job because of this and I can even maintain a relationship without scaring the hell out of anyone that's with me because they get afraid when I get sick. Hell I cant even apply for disability because I don't know what the hells wrong with me. As you can tell I am pretty frustrated with the circumstances any type of help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
