White Stool and Diarrhea

by VictoriaO, Sep 12, 2009 08:19PM
I am a 24year old healthy female, just took an overseas trip from Europe coming to the U.S.A. and given the fact that there is the Swine flu going around, I have been scared and want to ask especially about White Stool and Diarrhea.
Since arriving in the U.S about a week ago, after 2 days being here I caught a cold. My symptoms have been:
Headaches, Dizzyness, Lack of Energy, Caugh (with Mucus), Runny Nose, and for the past 2 days Diarrhea....then White Stool.
I didn't think much of this "flu or cold" that I caught because I was very tired from the 24hour flight, and the fact that I started my period the same day that I arrived.
Could you please give me some insight on what I may have, I am especially concerned with the White Stool that I see (it started yesterday after I've started to feel much better from this cold) I have never had White Diarrhea before and am quite scared.
There is also a possibily that I may have a urinary infection as from this morning I have felt the strong urge to pee and hardly let out any urin ( and I have a slight burning sensation when I do pee a small amount). Thank you in advance!

If you're having a white stool and it continues, please check with a doc. The brown color of the stool is due to bile. It's released as yellow-green and as it's worked on by enzymes in the small intestine it slowly turns brown - the brown we normally associate with bowel movements. A white color can suggest that bile isn't released as it should from the common bile duct and that can cause a lot of problems.
