I Had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago a nd have only been able to move my bowels several times (passing very little) since.
I have tried flaxseed, apples, lots of water, and stool softeners, as well as ExLax.  History:  About 6 days after my surgery I was able to pass a little (a couple of inches worth) after giving myself a Fleet Enema and the same happened a few days later.  Yesterday I tried the enema and  with great effort I expelled several pellet sized amounts.  I tried another enema 8 hours later (recommended by my doctor) and the contents refused to go in.  It all drained out right away.  I had several glasses of prune juice and several stool softeners and Ex lax.  Afterwards, I felt like I would have diarrea (diarrhea) and would run to the bathroom and then have no urge at all.  Same thing happened this morning.  Pushing is painful.  My surgeon is out of town until Thursday - I don't think I can make it til then. I have no fever nor nausea, at least not yet.

Should I continue trying with the enemas and laxatives until Thursday or try calling the dr. on call?  The pressure is getting more and more uncomfortable.  FYI - I had a great deal of endometriosis glueing my uterus to my bowel that during surgery they had to dissect off.  Could something have happened during surgery now making it difficul or impossible to truly move my bowels?  Thank you for your input.
