blood in stools

53 F, cramping with const. then diarrhea.  Have had before and usually diarrhea disappears after a few hours.  Noticed diarrhea had blood this time.

Hi - it is always a good idea to have any rectal bleeding checked out since this condition is never normal.  Type in rectal bleeding to google/yahoo to find out possible causes so that you are better informed when you visit your doctor.

You don't say how old you are but the more sinister diseases tend to occur at age 40+ and so if you are above this age then I suggest that you ask for a definite diagnosis (possibly via a colonoscopy) if the diagnosis is vague (i.e. "well it looks as if it might be ......") and if the bleeding is regular.
