colectomy with laxative

In 2001 I had a perforated colon and had a partial coloctomy with ostomy. 6 months later total colectomy (sluggish colon didn't move and had to take milk of magnesia all the time I had ostomy) and small intestine reconnected to the rectum. I took tinture of Opium to hold back bowel movements and could eat anything. In 2002 incisional hernia. In 2005 gall bladder removed and then began problems with eating things and developed constipation (sluggish again). Now, no colon but must take milk of magnesia and still boughts of constipation. A year ago I began having itching in rectum I have it almost all the time.  I have used meds over the counter, those prescribed by specialists, blow dry the area and nothing works. The area becomes very red and raw. What is going here? The specialist doesn't think the gall bladder surgery had anything to do with the renewed constipation. I have been told to increase fiber to about 30 grams per day and to take the milk of magnesia but I don't understand why this is happening and I am miserable from the itching.  Every month there are new foods that I cannot eat. Any help appreciated.
