A lot of diseases and conditions can contribute to elevated liver enzymes. You're going to have to work closely with your doc to find out what the cause is, but you can start by making sure you advise him of all the medications you take, if you drink or if you have a history of drinking, etc.
Some of the more common causes of elevated liver enzymes include: certain prescription medications, including statin drugs used to control cholesterol, hepatitis, Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NASH), obesity, OTC pain meds including acetaminophen (Tylenol, others), alcoholic hepatitis, Celiac disease, cirrhosis, gallbladder problems/disease, etc.......
