polyps

I just had a colonoscopy done today. They removed polyps. What are they and what are the symptoms? Can they cause severe abdominal bloating and pain? Please someone answer these questions.

A polyp is a small growth of tissue in the colon.  They are relatively common.  There are rarely any symptoms associated with polpys and the most common one is rectal bleeding.  They are removed so that they do not become cancerous.  If they are cancerous they can cause many symptoms.  I think it would be very very rare for you to have severe abdominal bloating and pain due to a non-cancerous polyp.
