Lingering Wet Cough

I have had a head cold for about two weeks. It started out as a sore throat, and then it turned into a lot of nasal congestion. I have been taking Mucinex D to clear the congestion, and that has worked well. My problem now is that I have a very wet sounding cough that seems to flare up in the morning when I am getting ready for work and then again in the evening right before bed. I am coughing up mucus, although it is all clear (and has been throughout the entire cold). It just concerns me that the cough is hanging around for so long. The cough has been with me for about a week and a half. Other than being a little worn out from not feeling my best, I have been able to go to work and perform my job normally. Thoughts?

Since what you're coughing up is clear, it might be allergies.  Have you tried an antihistamine or decongestant?  If that doesn't help and it continues, I would see your doctor.

Hi Lisa, a good old thing is chesse and onion sandwich, but try it with strong chedder and some good red onion, to give some extra strength add some sliced garlic, the best one is just before bed, this will then cut into your mucus and brake it down.
Good Luck
