High blood cholesterol and triglycerides-lowering medication. Tenormin is a beta-blocker, and decreases the work the heart has to do. Lipitor lowers cholesterol; the appropriate dose depends on the blood "bad" cholesterol level. An aspirin a day is often recommended to people with a history of a heart attack, if they do not have any bleeding problems. Various vitamins and nutrients are being studied to see what role they might have in preventing heart disease; the data is still emerging. At low doses, they usually do no harm, and may do some good.
