Atenolol and a heart monitor

Atenolol and a heart monitor

I'm a 23-year-old male. I'm trying to get my heart condition diagnosed. I've had around 8 worsenings. I feel chest pain and irregular beats each day. I get terrible chest pain easily. Emotional stress is the worst thing for my heart. It's a certainty that I don't have an anxiety problem. I've tried 7 different medications from a psychiatrist; none of which helped me at all. I'm taking 25mg of atenolol daily. I'm not sure yet if it's helping me. If it is, it's only helping a little bit.

Does the taking of 25mg of atenolol daily affect the recordings made by a heart monitor in an unfavorable way? If so, to what extent?

Also, if it's not too much to ask- I have some more questions.

I've had an echocardiogram, chest x-rays, an EKG, and blood tests. Those tests turned out OK. What do they rule out? What don't they rule out?

Ever since my heart condition started, I can't think as quickly or remember things as well. Could this be due to a low blood supply getting to the brain as a result of the heart condition? Do you have any tests to suggest?

Thanks very much.

1.It doesn't affect it at all.
2. They rule out any structural heart disease and some major arrhythmic syndromes which may explain your palpitations.
3.  Your central nervous system blood flow is normal and you don't really have any severe heart dysfunction that would cause you to have hypotension.  You probably have some extra heart beats that hopefully will regulate themselves on the atenolol and over time.  If they become more frequent and the holter reveals such findings, you could consider stronger meds or an ablation procedure if appropriate.  THis will be determined by your cardiologist.  You condition is likely very benign.
