Dear Anthony, thank you for your question. I've consulted with a rheumatologist and a neurologist since the problem you describe is not one that cardiologists usually see. From what I've learned, carotidynia is a benign paniful condition that is similar to fibromyalgia. I don't know what the "cellulite" part of the diagnosis is other than the fat tissue that surrounds the carotid artery in the neck. Carotidynia is not a warning sign that you have scleroderma or another connective tissue disease and although this condition may cause pain, it does not pose a bad prognosis for you. Usually, over-the-counter pain medications suffice to control the symptoms. If you would like a second opinion regarding this condition, my advice would be to see a neurologist or a rhematologist. Additionally, there may be more information regarding your symptoms that I don't know so I cannot determine that carotidynia is the correct diagnosis in your case - only your physician can do that. I hope you find this information useful.
