Carotidynia Cellulite

Posted By Anthony T. Stanfill on August 27, 1998 at 22:41:26:

I am a 29 year old male.  For the last three months, I have had a constant pain on the right side of my neck.  Thoungh, normally a dull pain, it will at time be sharp, with pain reach into my jaw, teeth, and ear.
My family doctor made a intial diagnosis of CAROTIDYNIA CELLULITE, with blood work test yet to be done to confirm diagnoses.
I have always been a health nut, working out regularaly and running two to three times a week.  Over the last few months, a very low right of exersise would leave me in pain for days.  This never happen before.  Also, my dad was diagnoses with Scleroderma at age 56.  These symptoms and my family history has led my doctor to my intial diagnoses.
My questions is what is Carotidynia Cellulite. Is it life threating or dilibating.  Is it normally the primary disease, or is it, usually a sympton of a different disorder, as of yet, undiagnose.  If it is usually a symtom of some other disorder, what are they.  Basically, is this something to really worry about, or is it just bothersome.  Thankyou, any information would be helpful.
