Chest burning sensation

Chest burning sensation

Hi,

Recently, I have a burning sensation in my frontal chest area & sometimes under my right shoulder blade.I was off cigarette for 3 months & have recently gone back smoking 3/4 daily. Will be giving them up again but struggling to stay off them. Should I be worried? Lots of cancer in my dads family but they were all heavy drinkers & smokers.
Thanks so much for any information you can give me.

Teresa.

If you have an extensive history of smoking and are having chest pain the least you should have is a chest x-ray to evaluate for the presence of any masses, blood clots, infection or inflammation in the lungs or their lining. In most cases this will be insufficient and a CT scan of the chest will be needed for more close examination of all the underlying structures.
