Cryomapping and ablation

Cryomapping and ablation

Doctor,

I have RVOT VT in a normal healthy heart. I've had 4 ablations but the foci causing me problems is in a very close spot to the normal electric pathway.  I've been waiting for cryomapping and and cryoablation as an option for me to use.

Will cryoabaltion with the new freezor system be available for RVOT VT?

When will cryomapping and cryoablation be available for a person to get an ablation?

Thanks

Dear V-Ben,

Sorry to hear about your struggle with ventricular tachycardia (VT).  I discussed cryoablation therapy for ventricular tachycardia with a few of the experts here who perform ventricular tachycardia ablations. The cryoablation technique is currenly investigational and has not been approved by the FDA. Its greatest utility may be for ablating atrial fibrillation not ventricular tachycardia. The consensus I got was that radiofrequency ablation is quite effective in ablating RVOT ventricular tachycardia, approximately 85% to 90%.

Your case sounds very complicated given that you have had 4 unsuccessful RVOT ablations for VT. I would consider being evaluated here at the Cleveland Clinic by one of the world's experts. You can visit out website at www.ccf.org for more information or call at 1-800-CCF-CARE for an appointment. Dr. Tchou in the department of cardiology would be an excellent person to see. Thanks for the interesting question. Keep me posted on your medical progress.

Sincerely,
