Exercise and the Heart.

: I unfortunately am not to clued up on matters concerning my internal health. I happen to be a long term weight trainer/bodybuilder. I am currently 29 years of age and have been training since I was 15. Until I was 18 years of age I was active in many sports - though since this time only weight training. Currently I train 4 days per week for approx. 90 minutes pewr session. I train very intensley (I always have done) even though this is my hobby, I take it very seriously. I have a diet that includes predominately chicken, pasta, rice, vegetables, cereals, egg whites (sometimes egg yolks - are they bad ?). Now (sorry for the delay) is this intensive training damaging to the heart ? I often get this strange (heavy) feeling in the middle of my chest (the heart I presume) that lasts for a few seconds. I get it usually a few hours after training (i have always had this - I think) though now it happens more often (maybe everyday)I have tried to see if my pulse changes, or whether my heart actually skipps beats - and it is hard to say (perhaps both). I am living in the FSU so things are not quite as easy to check (but I am trying) though a phsyio I saw here was adamant that high intensity weight traing was 'bad', though she has a thing about resistance training anyway. She said there is a major problem with enlarged heart - what does this mean ? To tell the truth I was never before concerned about this type of comments (I thought eating well, exercising hard were a recipe for good health). Any help would be greatly appreciative. PS I do not drink, nor do I smoke. I do take supplements like a protien powder (and sometimes this creatine monohydrate) though no illegal substances.
I apologise there is one thing I forgot to mention. I am a banker and work quite long hours so by the time I get to the gym I am quite tired - so 30 minute before I train I take approx. 200 mg - 300 mg of caffiene (tablet form). Thus I do this 4 times per week. I have been taking caffiene before training for a least ten years. Thank You in advance.
Dear Marshall
If you are having skipped beats, caffeine can definitely contribute to the problem. That is also a lot of caffeine, especially if you are also drinking coffee during the day.
