Hear Murmur & LVH

My son is applying to a military college.  He has had a heart murmur from birth.  All Drs. have called it an innocent murmur.  He was required to have an EKG for his physical, it was normal except for borderline LVH.  The Dr. assured me that my son is healthy and this will not keep him from attending a private military college.  He runs track, cross country, bicycles, and now boxes.  He has even ran a marathon with no problems.  Will he be rejected?  He has his academic acceptance but we are waiting on his medical clearance.  It is a long process.  We want to be prepared for bad news.
Do I need this further investigated?

There are only a few specialists in this country who can confidently distinguish athlete's LVH from hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.  Here at the cleveland clinic, Dr Lever deals with these questions on a regular basis.  There are others in Mayo and other major cardiology centers.  Based on what you have told me, he most likely has an athlete's heart and should be ok, but given that he is so young, the cardiologists who are evaluating him may be leaning on the side of caution because hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a progressive disease that carries a risk of sudden cardiac death.   I would seek an opinion of a specialist in this matter.
