Myocardial scarring
Hello and thanks for this great service. I just want to know if there is any reliable test to identify myocardial damage or old scarring from a previous heart attack? Thanks.

Hello,

There are different tests used to identify myocardial damage from previous heart attack.
Cardiac MRI or cardiac PET imaging (nuclear medicine test) are very reliable, however echocardiogram is usually done first and most often is sufficient to prove myocardial scar from prior heart attack.
Best wishes
