Post-Ablation heart block

Post-Ablation heart block

Dear Dr.,
I am a 25 year old female who underwent an ablation for SVT 4 months ago.  The ablation successfully eliminated my fast heartbeats, but in the process my AV node was bumped.  I went into heart block for a short time after the procedure and the night following it (for a couple seconds each time).  Since then, I have suffered "skipped beats" frequently--always after exercise and often while preparing to sleep.  I have been on monitors and a stress test which showed I have Wenckebach heart block.

Is there a possibility this will ever go away?  Is there anything I can do to make it better?  Is there anything I should watch out for with this new condition?

Any input would be much appreciated!

Thank you,
Kathy S.

If you have true heart block with long pauses, you need a pacemaker. If all you have is Wenkebach heart block, that is almost never a problem, and almost never progresses. Very rarely, symptomatic Wenkebach is also treated with pacemaker implantation.
