Help!!  I am a 34 year old female who needs to have my valve replaced due to Aortic Stenosis.  My Cardiologist has recommended me see a surgeon who wants to do the Ross Procedure.  While I agree that this would probably be the way that I would want to go, how do I find out who is the best surgeon(s) for this type of surgery in the Cincinnati area?  Please advise.  I don't have much time.
Thanks!
I'd check out Dr. Cosgrove at the Cleveland Clinic. The CCF does a lot of valve replacements, but I'm not sure how many Ross Procedures Dr. Cogrove's done. The other top docs from what I've been able to ascertain include:  Dr. R. Elkins at the University of Oklahoma, and Dr. James Oury at the International Heart Institute in Missoula, Montana.
I'm looking at the same surgery and these are the names I've been able to idenify in my search for information. The advice I've received is that you want someone who's done at least 100 RPs to be on the safe side. Hope this helps.
