This may not be your field, exactly.  However, can costochondritis mimic angina at all?  Can it cause dull pressure in the chest and up in the upper left collarbone area and shoulder, as well?  Do you ever see patient who end up with costochondritis instead of cardiac problems?  How is it treated?  Thanks.

Dear Pearl,
Costochondritis often does mimic angina.  In general, when any one comes in with chest pain, we assume the most seriour problem first that being heart problems.  However, it is fairly common that stomach, chest wall and lungs may cause additional "chest pain".  Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory medications will take care of chostochondritis.  It is self limited and will resolve over time.
