This may not be your field, exactly.  However, can costochondritis mimic angina at all?  Can it cause dull pressure in the chest and up in the upper left collarbone area and shoulder, as well?  Do you ever see patient who end up with costochondritis instead of cardiac problems?  How is it treated?  Thanks.

How is it diagnosed?  Is it a rule out...rule out cardiac problems then just assume costochondritis or can you tell by an X-ray or some other test?

Typically one rules out other problems and determines it based on symmptom description and either point tenderness over the joints or pain with inspiration.
