atrial arrhythmia

by svsue, Sep 03, 2007 09:12AM
I am a 44yr old female with s/s of shortness of breath and arrhythmia upon exertion. This also seems to intensify with hot weather. I recently had a stress test and and echo which both resulted within normal limits.  However, I was referred to an EPS physician for an atrial arrhythmia found on the stress test.  I will not been seen until the end of OCT.  So, I'm a little anxious over what this could mean dx and treatment wise.  A little history. My caffeine intake is excessive.  I love coffee and chocolate. I'm not on any regular exercise program and I've put on about 20lbs in the last 8 years.  Also, my work is very stressful. My question's: is it possible this arrhythmia could be caused and maybe resolved by my lifestyle. Do hormonal changes play a part?

Hormonal changes play a role in certain arrhythmia of atrial origin.  Atrial arrhythmia can also be related to caffeine intake and physical deconditioning.
