bilateral nodular infiltrates

what exactly does extensive bilateral nodular infiltrates mean.  I have them in the bottoms and tops of my lobes (lungs) due to overexposure of cement dust?  (environmental exposure) I have never smoked.  The lung dr said it w/eventually turn into cancer?  is this true?  i cant seem to find anything about it online, books,  could you please help me

This is the cardiology forum, you should probably post in the pulmonary forum. To me it simply is a radiographic term meaning that there are infiltrates ( meaning fluid, pus or cement) in localized areas in your lungs. Without a biopsy no one can say for sure they are secondary to exposure to dust ( called pneumoconiosis), as they may be atypical pneumonias, Brochiolitis obliterans or even cancer. As far as I know the pneumociniosis do not turn into cancer, but I think you should check the lung specialist forum.
