italia38,

For the left ventricle, I'll provide several different measurements.  The dimensions provided on reports vary from lab to lab, but here are some of the numbers we use.

(1) IVSd - Intraventricular Septal width (measured during diastole); normal range 0.6-1.1 cm

(2) LVIDd - Left Ventricular Internal Dimension (diastole); normal range 3.5 - 6 cm

(3) LVIDs - Left Ventricular Internal Dimension (systole); normal range 2.1 - 4 cm

(4)LVPWd - Left Ventricualr Posterior Wall (diastole); normal range 0.6-1.1 cm

Right ventricle:
At our lab, we measure the diameter at the base of the ventricle near the tricuspid annulus.  Less than 4cm is normal, greater than 4 cm is abnormal.

Left atrium:
Normal diameter < 4cm, normal left atrial volume < 20 ml/m^2.

Right atrium:
Measured similiarly, although usually a little smaller than the left atrium.

Hope that helps.
